This brush is a ‘good all-rounder’ – Watercolour brush
I would like to introduce you to the benefits of this great watercolour brush!
I have been using this style of large watercolour brush for over 5 years…. I have found this brush very good for watercolour washes, and you can also use the point at the end to do some detailed and quite free work.
In my opinion, this brush is so beautiful and easy to use. It feels good in the hand, and light.
Over the years I have commented to my students that it paints ‘like magic’ and almost does it all for you! Which is true, as I have found that lovely watercolour artwork is created much more in a ‘loose’ style and really benefits from the use of this type of brush to achieve fluidity and flow of colour onto watercolour paper.
‘Wet in Wet’ watercolour is greatly enhanced by it – the watercolour flows freely and the brush assists the work. Even students who are beginners have had great success with it, it helps to develop confidence and with practice encourages the artist to ‘express themselves’ more, rather than be focused in on detail and becoming ‘tight in the process of watercolour painting’.
Using both watercolours and inks these are very suitable for working with this brush. Although, you must obviously wash out thoroughly after using acrylics of any kind. I have one student who paints in oils with her brush, and loves the effect! It is a blend, and is ‘not sable’ – or it would cost a great deal more than £25!
So for the money it’s a great brush to have with you, as it’s a ‘one brush does all’, for example: if you are travelling or out painting in the landscape - it is an absolute bonus that you only need to take one brush with you!
